I. SIP Settings for Hoot
Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > SIP settings: Select Add new Profile name: Hoot (or other name of your choice) Service profile: IETF Default access point: Media Lab (if you are primarily using the Media Lab access point) Public user name: sip:username@hoot.media.mit.edu (e.g. replace username with 3096770) Use compression: No Registration : Always on Use security: No Proxy Server: Proxy server address: sip:hoot.media.mit.edu Realm: hoot.media.mit.edu User name: just the username part from above Password: ******** Allow loose routing: Yes Transport type: Auto Port: 5060 Registrar server Registrar serv. addr.: sip:hoot.media.mit.edu Realm: asterisk User name: just the username part from above Password: ******* Transport type: Auto Port: 5060 Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Internet tel. settings: Select Options > New profile. Name: Hoot SIP (or other name of your choice) SIP profiles: Hoot (whatever you specified above for Profile name) To have the phone default to making SIP calls when the Wireless LAN is available go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Call > Set Default call type: Internet TIPS -If not registered appears below SIP Settings for Hoot. Try refreshing the Registration option by going to edit settings and change Always on to When Needed. Go Back. And then edit settings again and change back to Always on. This should refresh the connection and attempt to register again.II. Installing Software
Installing Python
- Go to www.sourceforge.net/projects/PyS60 on your phone's internet browser.
- Scroll down and click on the green link "Download PyS60."
- Scroll down to the list of files under "File Releases." Click on PythonForS60_1_4_2_3rdEd.SIS to download it. (~ 600 kb)
- If it asks whether to continue despite an untrusted certification, click the center button twice to agree.
- When it says "PythonFor S60_1_4_2_3rdEd.SIS" downloaded, click on "open."
- When it asks whether you would like to install Python for S60, say yes
- Click continue. Python should install now.
- Click back and then enter to go to the previous page. If necessarily, reload the page.
- Now you are going to install one more piece of software. Again, scroll down to the list of files under "File Releases." Click on PythonScriptShell_1_4_2_3rdEd.SIS to download it. Follow steps 4-7 again for this software.
Owl Project Software
- Go to the menu by clicking the button
- Select "My Own."
- Select "Python."
- Select options > interactive console
- Type: import urllib and then return (press 0 three times quickly, then pause).
- Type: urllib.urlretrieve("http://hoot.media.mit.edu/update.py", "/Python/update.py") and press 0 three times to submit.
- Select options > Run script > update.py
- This should download hedwig.py, which you can run by selecting options > run script > hedwig.py
III. Upgrade Firmware
- Go to http://www.nokiausa.com/A4410025?N80 or Go to Nokia site and search for Phone Software Update, click first link and select phone model
- Select Update via PC, and follow on screen instructions.
- After installing necessary software, run Nokia Software Updater
- Connect phone to PC via data cable and select PC Suite mode.* *Sim card required (does not have to be activated) *Phone must be fully charged or connected to power supply for installation to begin *Phone must be on Normal / General profile *May need to manually set data connection to PC Suite Mode by going to Menu > Connect. > Data cbl. > Options > Change > PC Suite *All of phone memory will be erased including contacts, pictures, messages, installed software (Hedwig.) To backup phone memory on memory card first, see Backup/Restore phone memory to memory card.
- Start Software Update.
- Wait for phone to restart and then it is safe to disconnect.
IV. Phone Memory
A. Backup Phone Memory to Memory Card
- Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
- Select Options > Backup phone mem.
B. Restore Phone Memory from Memory Card
- Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
- Select Options > Restore from card
